We have stayed at this hotel for about 10 years now and it has always had spacious, comfortable rooms which were spotlessly clean. It has however, within the last year been 'renovated' and now is simply terrible. The rooms have been 'greyified' and now resemble prison cells. The rooms now have no wardrobe, cupboards or drawers so there is absolutely nowhere to put your clothes except for a couple of hangers on a metal grid on the wall. There is only one bedside table so nowhere for the second person to put a 'phone, glasses etc. In place of the desk, there is a cheap rickety table with only one chair so only one person can sit down. There is no fridge. The lighting is so bad you cannot shave properly or put make-up on. There was no door handle on the shower door. They have tried to go for a minimalist look but it completely defeats the object when you have to have all your belongings on show because there is nowhere to put them away out of sight. The bar area, which used to be quite classy, is also grey with neon lights but the worst thing is that they have removed the ceiling so that all the service pipes and air conditioning ducts are visible and you can hear water running through the soil pipes - lovely! On one side of the bar, the overhead shelf for the glasses is so low that you actually have to put your head on the bar to speak to the bartender. Sounds ridiculous but it's true. We complained and asked to speak to the manager, who came to speak to us wearing jeans and trainers - not a good impression. She basically said take it or leave it - she couldn't have cared less whether we were happy or not. And to top it all, the rooms are 50% dearer than they used to be. We were totally disgusted with the room and the attitude from the manager. We will never go back.

Such a disapointment. The previous time that we stayed here it was excellent but, since then, it has had a massive , so called, upgrade. Everything new and shiny but, in the room - nothing to drink out of, not even a plastic cup, only two clothes hangers on a strange metal contraption on the wall, a light under the bed that kept coming on during the night, only one uncomfortable chair and safe that is not attached to anything so could be carried away. It did have a huge tv, far too big for the room.

Hotel was very handy for the Sants Station in Barcelona, literally over the road. To start with, there were no visible signs outside of the Hotel, luckily I knew where it was. Reception was on floor3. Checked in and went to my room. The room was small but clean and had the amenities that I requited. The first thing to hit me was the heat, the room was like a sauna. Went to call reception, but no instructions on how to use the phone. Therefore back down to level 3. They sent up an engineer who fixed it. I then went to put my valuables in the Safe, however, the safe did not work. Back down to level 3 to complain, they sent another engineer who said it needed new batteries. Before I went out for a meal, I went to wash my hands, however, no soap or shower gel. Back down to level three, they got the housekeeper to supply me with these items. The only good thing was the help your self buffet breakfast, certainly filled me up. Come on guys, for what you are charging you need to get your act together.

How this has changed in the last 12 months. There used to be a warm welcome and a lovely restaurant but this, like many other things seems to have disappeared in the refit/rebranding. When we arrived we were simply told that there was no restaurant, just a bar. There was also some sort of self service snack shop. We were not offered any suggested local restaurants. The check in experience was poor, we did not feel particularly welcomed. The rooms are very urban chic which means no drawers, a few coathangers on a metal grid and an underbed light that came on automatically if you even put a hand out of the bed let alone a foot.

Tint dark narrow rooms - no space in shower room. Decor dark and gloomy everywhere Dark black exposed beams. Unable to hang clothes anywhere or put them away. Awful design, awful place and supposed to be a 4 star. Who allows them to get away with this !!!!
